Formerly, we would provide a text listing of all products listed on the site using a CSV text output. This type of listing did not allow for hyperlinks or images. This has now been changed to an interactive table format with products and thumbnails linked to their respective product pages. Now, if you see something you like, you can just click on it to be taken to that page. No more copying and pasting into a search box to be taken to that page. The new table format will default to listing in order by how recently the item is listed. So, the most recent additions will be found at the top. We have filtered out any “sold-out” items. This table should allow a quick check to see what has been listed since the last time you visited.

To get to the “All product Table Listing”, just look at the top of the Shop page, or category pages. Near the top of the page (shop page) or under the photo for the category pages, you will see a blue link called, “LINK TO ALL PRODUCT TABLE LISTING”. Just click on this link in order to be redirected to the product table page.

We have added a “bargin Bin” category to the shop. We will be routinely adding odd titles, manuals with rough conditions and titles that we wouldn’t normally carry there. Please check this new category often.

A visitor to the site has observed multiple instances where our “Gtranslate” multi-language plugin is mis-translating pages from English to French. We are currently working with the plugin developer to see how the issue can be resolved. It seems to center on passages where (), /, and alpha numeric A22, references are made. Thank you very much for informing us of the issue. We would like to get this corrected quickly.

After hearing from visitors about the high shipping rates being returned on our shipping calculator, we have gone back and made adjustments which should help with the number of returned rates from the various shippers. We’ve changed the dimensions on many items to help ensure that smaller boxes can be used. Height seems to be a key factor in which box sizes that will be returned on the calculator, so we have reduced the height of many products so that more can be placed into a single box. As a result, the dimensions you now see listed on the product page may no longer be “true” sizes of the product.

First class international should now be available for orders of less than $80USD. This method of shipping was exlcuded earlier due to the lengthy transit times overseas. It has now been reinstated for small value orders. Please expect at least 2-3 weeks, or longer, for delivery if you use this method. First Class International does have some size and weight restrictions. Also, tracking is very limited. This is why we have decided to limit the order value to $80USD or less.

UPS should now be returning rates as long as the shopping cart weight is at least 15 lbs. This seems to be a point at which USPS and UPS rates start to diverge where UPS is cheaper by comparison for “heavy” domestic deliveries beyond this point.

As always, if you think the shipping rates are not correct, please let us know. We can certainly review the shipping for adjustments if necessary.

As part of the fix for the earlier issue noted with PAYPAL, we have rolled out a new version of the PAYPAL gateway which offers a few more conveniences over the old PAYPAL gateway. You will now have the ability to pay via a credit card (through PayPal) without leaving the site. Look for the “CREDIT CARDS (PAYPAL)” payment method on the checkout screen. If you do not have a PAYPAL account, please use this option. If you have a PAYPAL account, you can choose this method, it will be the first option listed on the checkout screen. This process hasn’t changed. You will be re-directed to the PAYPAL site and guided through the purchase process from there. Finally, you can opt for a payment plan through PAYPAL to pay-off a purchase balance in 6 months with no interest charged. Please review the “PayPal® – Pay In 4 – Buy Now & Pay Later” options now being provided. This payment option will not delay the shipping of your purchase. If you are approved through PAYPAL, we will ship your items on our next shipping day (Wednesdays & Saturdays) following the receipt of payment from PAYPAL.

We have kept the STRIPE payment gateway, just in case PAYPAL has any other issues that arise from their new gateway plugin we are using. Please use STRIPE if you encounter any problems with the PAYPAL payment processing. You may, of course, use STRIPE if you prefer this service. You will not be re-directed to another site. Your credit card payment will be processed through our site.

Because we have just recently noticed an increase in small dollar value, international orders, we have re-introduced “USPS First Class International” service to the website. This will add a less expensive alternative for small, international orders compared to USPS Priority International service. This service will come with drawbacks though. This method is a Air-Mail type, that uses the recipient’s national postal service to complete the delivery. Shipping transit times are very long with this method being that it is a not a priority delivery method. Due to the lengthly transit time (~4 weeks) for this service, we have restricted the cart sub-totals to $60 or less with this shipping type. We will monitor the success of this shipping method and determine, based on timeliness, and number of follow-up communications we receive from customers, if this shipping method could be used for higher value orders.

USPS First Class service is restricted to 4lbs or less and cannot be a “large”, dimensional item. There is no tracking with this shipping type beyond a final delivery confirmation, so we will not be able to provide am “in-transit” tracking updates.

Please consider these “draw-backs” when you are determining what shipping type to use. Let us know what you think of this service.

After receiving a complaint from an international customer about PayPal not allowing transactions without PayPal account creation, we have added another credit card payment gateway option for use at checkout. Please look for “STRIPE” on the checkout screen. This option will be found directly below “PAYPAL”.

Stripe charges will process right on our site and you will not be redirected to a checkout screen elsewhere such as with PayPal. This will provide a more streamlined checkout as you will only need to enter the card number, expiration date and CVV code of the card. We have tested it and we feel it is safe and stable so that we can make it available to our customers. You will need to use your name and billing address just as it appears on your credit card billing statement from your credit card you are using as your “billing” address on our site. You can of course direct the parcel elsewhere by adding a “shipping” address to the checkout screen.

Please continue to use PayPal if this process is working for you. PayPal has worked well for thousands of transactions without issue.  Unfortunately, we are not sure what is creating this problem for our international users. We are currently researching the issue brought forth by our customer and hope to have this resolved soon.

We have implemented an early version of the shipping discounting system on both international and domestic orders. The discounts will be applied by order amount in a stepped fashion for both formats. For domestic deliveries, the discounts will be $8.50 off for $75-149.99 orders, $12.50 off for $150-299.99, $20 off for $300-499.99, $30 off for $500 or more. For international deliveries, the discounts will be as follows, $10 off for $75-149.99, $15 off for $150-299.99, $25 off for $300-499.99, $35 off for $500 or more.

These discounts will automatically be applied to the cart or the checkout process once you can see the shipping calculator. These discounts are not additive.

We are in the process of adding Čeština (Czech) language to the website. Most of the work is done, but the subdomain will not function for a few more days. Please watch for this new language addition.

On mobile views, these will appear at the bottom of the page. We are working through technical issues, currently, with sold out items being chosen at random. We hope to have these problems resolved soon.

The sale items will be randomly chosen on Saturday each week from now until December 31, 2019. At this time we will determine whether this system is working well enough to continue it.

From now until the beginning of the 2019 Spring MVCC meet in Plymouth, CA, you will have the option to select free order delivery. By selecting this option, you are signaling that you will be able to pickup your purchase at this event. This is a great time to purchase large or heavy items that would otherwise be too expensive to ship. Please, only select this option if you intend on attending the event in Plymouth. I will package the items and bring them along on the 5 hour trip to Plymouth. If you are not planning on attending this event, you can have someone else pick up your purchases. Just let me know who it is prior to the pickup. If the checkout page charges “Shipping Insurance”, I will refund this during the processing of your order.

During the event, the website will be in “Vacation” mode and will not accept orders. Please get your orders in early as I only have so much room on the truck/trailer to bring the product to the show.

Using GTranslate, we have begun using sub-domains to create a faster, smoother and a more accurate multi-language experience for visitors to the site. We still have some adjustments to make to ensure the site appears exactly as the English site appears. Also, we have added Spanish and Portuguese to the language selector tab. We’ve added links to review a full text list of product on the site without having to enter each category. The links are available on the main category page and within each of the product category. They can be found at the top left of each page.

Because of numerous fake accounts being added, we have chosen to add the re-captcha back to the site when using the checkout feature. Please login if you already have an account as this will remove the re-captcha requirement when you move to other pages. You can still access all areas of the site without logging in, but you will need to repeat the re-captcha function as you navigate about the site.

We have seen a slowing of the page loading time on the critical shop category page as we have added additional categories to browse. We are now up to 54 main categories available from the “SHOP” page. With this many images required to load the complete page, it has created a lag when a visitor is wanting to move from category to category. You should now find this page more responsive than before.

We have taken the step of adding “Basic” language support for French, Italian, German, Dutch, Polish. Because we are using only a rudimentary system for translation, i.e. GOOGLE, the translations may not be accurate, but will give the idea of what is being communicated.

We are having text formatting issues with Portuguese and Spanish. For the time being, they are being left off of the multi-language support until such time as we can determine a fix for this issue.

Also, the multi-language support will not be accessible on mobile platforms without some adjustments. If you need the translation assistance, please visit the site as a “Desktop site” on your mobile device and you will see the drop-down menu active in the top right corner of the screen.

A new customer contacted us regarding an issue he was encountering while trying to place an order for parts. He was receiving an error from our Re-captcha (anti-spam) plugin prior to being re-directed to PayPal. This error seems to be limited to MAC-OS and I-OS platforms. However, we have decided to remove the re-captcha checks from the checkout page altogether to be sure no other customers are prevented from placing an order. “Lazy” image loading has been enabled for the site. This will decrease the page load times for what is visible at any given time. But, as you scroll around on the pages, the previously unseen images will load as they become visible. The theory behind this is why load 10 images when you land on a page when only 3 can been seen from the initial page load. The page will load quicker because there is that much less data to populate upon landing on the page. Let me know what you think.

As I look through the logs of activity on the site, I can see that there is a substantial portion of the daily visits that come from Europe and elsewhere. It seems the most common countries, where English isn’t the spoken  language,  are France, Italy, The Netherlands, Belgium & others. I will be testing different platforms and programs to add a multi-language support to the site. Please let me know if you are in favor of this approach.

Working from the feedback received at the MVPA convention, we have made some adjustments to the site to assist in the speed of page loading. We have used an image optimizer that reduced the size of all images by 10%. Further, we have eliminated the scrolling carousels from each product category page. These were likely to blame for most of the delays once visitors were in those categories. Many of the carousels had 5-8 4mb images each. We reduced these to a single image only. Lastly, we are now using image sizes about 20% the size of the original images. There may be slight difference in zoom mode, but otherwise you shouldn’t see much of a difference.

The website has been taken off of “Vacation” mode. All items are again available for sale. We have made an attempt to accurately remove the sold product from the website that was sold at the convention. However, it is possible that a few items that were sold at the convention eluded our efforts in adjusting the website inventory.

Please watch for a few “gems” that were discovered at the convention to be listed soon on the site.

We’ve decided to experiment with posting some representative examples of items to Ebay. While these items are on Ebay, they cannot be purchased through the website. Please use the provided links found on the product pages to bid on the items your interested in.

You can now create your own wishlist for this site. This is the same feature that large sites like Amazon and Ebay have. On Ebay, it is called a watchlist rather than a wishlist. By clicking on a product in the shop pages, you will find a button marked “Add to wishlist” in the product summary. By clicking on this button, the item will be added to your wishlist. Although not reserving the item, you can easily mark it, or track it, for future purchase. Let me know what you think of this feature.

The website is being slowly updated to allow for offers on most manual/book products. Most new product added, will have this function enabled at the time of the listing. Older, existing, product will be analyzed and added to this functionality.

In order to access this option, you must have an existing website account. Without an account, you will not be able to view the “make offer” buttons. The system is configured to “auto-decline” offers that are too low to accept. If you receive an auto decline, you can still make another, higher offer. I will have the ability to create counter offers, please watch for these. If you have any suggestions for this system, please let me know.

The developers of this feature/plugin (Offers for WooCommerce) ANGELL EYE, generously provided a patch to correct an error message encountered when making an offer on a product. A huge thank you to them and their effort to fix this issue.

We’ve added a product page view counter today. This system will track the number of product page views, excluding the admin views, on a daily, weekly, monthly basis. Look for it at the bottom of the product pages, just above the footer.

Currently, it seems the counter is picking up all of the GOOGLE spider traffic on the product pages. We will see if we can exclude these going forward.

Unfortunately, we were not able to remove the constant spider and bot traffic from this counter. I will be removing this feature.
